Bread and Peace: How presidential elections really get decided

Bread and peace: how presidential elections really get decided. Douglas Hibbs’s ‘Bread and Peace index’ only looks at per capita real personal disposable income (RPDI) growth and military fatalities. It’s fairly accurate, as you can see below. Based on Barry’s record as of 3Q 2011, the index predicts NObama in 2013 (44.1% of the vote.)

Amid Political Turmoil, South Korea Faces Kim Jong Il’s Death

Posted by on Friday, 23 December, 2011

Kim Jong Il’s death has introduced a potent new variable into South Korean politics at a time when the South’s traditional political parties are struggling to stay relevant amid waning support. With both general and presidential elections scheduled next year, this vulnerability may tempt the North to engage in provocation, while making it difficult for the South to respond cohesively.

Raaaaacist unions want photo voter ID

Raaaaacist unions want photo voter ID Apparently, it is only raaaacist when ID’s are required for trivial things like presidential elections. When they are concerned about voter fraud hurting them, then all of a sudden, asking for peoples’ photo ID’s is reasonable. Hypocrites.

Mitt Romney, Democrat [JHoward]

Posted by on Tuesday, 4 October, 2011

Quick; replace Mitt Romney with Barack Obama and replay the clip. Social Security, currently pillaged by the federal government of fifteen trillion dollars, needs only Mitt Romney’s unnamed “reform”. If you don’t buy this and instead elect Perry, he’ll put one in four seniors out on the curb for morning garbage collectors. Or abolish government schools and maybe the prison system … presumably to leave the streets to swarm with naked children while the rioting and burning commence. Or something. This is sensationalism — obvious soft-socialist fear-mongering at best — and an admission that Romney understands bankrupt, dysfunctional federal programs to be essential planks of a Republican platform, as the GOP races to a repeat its small-government successes from the last six presidential elections. Mitt Romney just proved your suspicions about his political principles. He’s a compassionate conservative reformer, a pragmatist … and thus an establishmentarian statist, and he wants to take the helm and chart the course of what will assuredly be more of the same from Washington. Mitt Romney. Boldly taking a page from the Democrat’s play book to beat his conservative opponent. Added: The largest transfer of wealth from the public to private sector is about to begin. The federal government will be bulk-selling the massive portfolio of foreclosed homes now owned by HUD, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to private investors — vulture funds. These homes, which are now the property of the U.S. government, the U.S. taxpayer, U.S. citizens collectively, are going to be sold to private investor conglomerates at extraordinarily large discounts to real value. You and I will not be allowed to participate. These investors will come from the private-equity and hedge-fund community, Goldman Sachs and its derivatives, as well as foreign sovereign wealth funds that can bring a billion dollars or more to each transaction. In the process, these investors will instantaneously become the largest improved real estate owners and landlords in the world. The U.S. taxpayer will get pennies on the dollar for these homes and then be allowed to rent them back at market rates. Heh; he said “derivatives”. So Mitt: I want to know what you’ll do about things that matter . Like theft by central policy.

Blue State Math Gives Edge to Obama

Posted by on Tuesday, 27 September, 2011

Gerald Seib : “Amid those dark political clouds overhead right now, President Barack Obama can console himself with this silver lining: The electoral map remains stacked in favor of him and his Democrats.” “Specifically, there are 18 states plus the District of Columbia that have voted Democratic in all five presidential elections since 1992. Combined, they carry 242 electoral votes — 90% of the votes needed for victory. Republicans have a much smaller bloc of highly reliable electoral college votes. There are just 13 states that have gone red in each of the last five elections, and they deliver 102 electoral votes, less than half of the number needed.”
