Green electricity finds few customers in… Massachusetts! The local utility offers “green” electricity but few customers have signed up – 0.76% to be precise. Whyzzat? Maybe ’cause it costs 15-30% more than not-green energy. But the enviro activists think it’s because the utility hasn’t spent enough money to publicize the program. It’s never that their ideas are lousy, it’s always the messaging.

Oh, bless his little heart . The truth is, members of the upper tribe have made themselves phenomenally productive. They may mimic bohemian manners, but they have returned to 1950s traditionalist values and practices. They have low divorce rates, arduous work ethics and strict codes to regulate their kids. Members of the lower tribe work hard and dream big, but are more removed from traditional bourgeois norms. They live in disorganized, postmodern neighborhoods in which it is much harder to be self-disciplined and productive. I doubt Murray would agree, but w e need a National Service Program . We need a program that would force members of the upper tribe and the lower tribe to live together , if only for a few years. We need a program in which people from both tribes work together to spread out the values, practices and institutions that lead to achievement. Principles don’t “rub off” on others because of proximity — heck, if it did we never see another tv interview of neighbors shocked at finding the really nice guy, so helpful and polite next door has been filleting hookers in the kitchen and burying their bits in the backyard. Principles, values, ethics and morality are taught — just like brushing your teeth or covering your mouth when you sneeze. And keeping those principles is a conscious decision, otherwise one may forget that Liberty is what the American tribe uses as foundational for freedom of association and banning involuntary servitude. iWatch News reports that President Obama’s 445 bundlers raised at least $74.4 million last year. “More than 60 bundlers have now gathered contributions totaling at least $500,000 for the president, a sharp contrast to the campaign’s claims of reliance on small-figure donors. And as with previous bundler disclosures, the list includes a number of individuals who have received appointments and invitations to the White House.”

MF Global client money feared gone. MF Corzine’s fortune still doing fine. BTW, MF Corzine has raised $500K for MF Obama. More than makes up for the piddly 70 grand MF Corzine personally contributed which the MF president returned.
